Add Electric Water Pumps to Cooling Range

FLG CATERS FOR A HYBRID FUTURE

First Line Electric Water Pumps

The First Line Group (FLG) has added electric water pumps to its First Line cooling range, to sit alongside its premium quality mechanical water pumps, thermostats, sensors and switches to form a 750 part number-strong programme.

In the quest to reduce engine emissions, there is a growing trend among vehicle manufacturers to use electric water pumps instead of, or alongside, their traditional belt driven counterparts. As a major player in the cooling sector, FLG has therefore reflected these market developments with the addition of electric water pumps into its comprehensive cooling programme.

There are two types of electric pump: primary, which replaces the traditional mechanical pump and secondary, which is fitted alongside a mechanical pump and often has several functions. These functions can include cooling the vehicle after the engine has been shut down, increasing the flow of coolant to certain parts of the engine under extreme conditions and/or boosting the coolant flow to the heater matrix to warm up the heating system as quickly as possible.

Manufacturers of modern electric hybrid vehicles (those that can be powered via an electric motor, traditional internal combustion engine or a combination of both forms of propulsion), tend to mix and match their water pump requirements. The Lexus CT200H, later Toyota Prius and Auris and Yaris hybrids utilise electric pumps, whereas other Lexus hybrids, the earlier (pre-2009) Prius, Vauxhall Ampera and Honda and PSA hybrids favour a mechanical solution.

Irrespective of their drive method, all First Line water pumps are sourced from premium manufacturers with a reputation for quality, which is why the entire water pump range is supported with a 2-year/24,000 mile warranty and so provides workshops with the perfect replacement.
