NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd

Ignition specialist NGK has long been synonymous with motorsport, supplying some of the world’s leading two and four-wheel teams with its products and helping racers to numerous victories.
The leading supplier of original equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK sensors sponsors the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team, the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team, which competes in the FIA World Rally Championship, and a number of MotoGP and Speedway riders.

For the first time in its history, NGK is participating in the Veranstaltergemeinschaft Nürburgring (VLN) long-distance championship with its own car; a Ferrari 458 Challenge, which recently successfully debuted in its first fully valid race, finishing second in its race category.

The RaciNGK team comprising UK drivers George Richardson and Robert Smith and German Stephan Kuhs, secured second place in the SP8 category for vehicles up to 6200cc at the 40th DMV 4-Hour Race against very strong opponents in the Eifel region of Germany.

In addition to Scuderia Ferrari’s Formula One car, for which NGK exclusively supplies the spark plugs, it is the second racer from Maranello to take part in professional racing with products from NGK/NTK as well as displaying the NGK/NTK logo on the body of the car.
Marko Wowczyna, Automotive Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “Motorsports and endurance racing like the VLN in particular put our products to the ultimate test and reinforces our illustrious motorsports pedigree.”

Later this month triple World Speedway champion Greg Hancock is to be the star guest on NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd’s stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is being held on June 25-28.  In addition to his appearance on the NGK stand on Friday, June 26, Greg will also be taking part in the famous Goodwood Hill Climb the following day.

Aged 44, Greg last year became the oldest rider to win the world title, adding to the previous championships he won in 1997 and 2011.
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has sponsored Greg for a number of years, supplying its specialist Iridium racing plugs which he uses on his 500cc motorcycles, one of which will be featured on the company’s stand at Goodwood.

The Hemel Hempstead-based company continues to set the pace 40 years after being incorporated as a UK subsidiary of Japan and recently introduced a new range of NTK exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) and expanded its ignition coils range.
