The Lawn Way Round
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd is helping an intrepid trio raise funds for charity by sponsoring their bid to undertake a 2200-mile journey on lawn mowers!
The supplier of original-equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK sensors is supporting their fund-raising drive through all the coastal counties of England, Scotland and Wales to raise money for Crohn's & Colitis UK.
‘The Lawn Way Round’ will see the team aiming to raise around £5000 for the charity by completing the journey in just seven days, starting at Tenbury Wells on July 11 before undertaking a clockwise tour of the UK mainland coastline.
One of the drivers, landscape gardener Paul Tindall (30), whose racing lawn mowers are kept up to speed by NGK-customer Penn Lawn Mowers of Ringwood, Hampshire, said: “It’s a bit daunting to think that we will be doing over 300 miles a day, but it’s in a good cause. I’d like to thank NGK who have supplied the spark plugs for our machines and also our support team."
“I’m looking forward to the challenge although I’m in the dog house with my wife Lucy as the trip coincides with our wedding anniversary.”
The Lawn Way Round follows an earlier charity drive by the two other drivers taking part, Daz Whitehead and Tony Dwight, of the North West Lawn Mowers Racing Association, who raised £3500 when they rode from John O'Groats to Lands' End.
Mark Hallam, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd Marketing Manager, said: “We are delighted to help the men undertake this challenge. I don’t envy them as it sounds really gruelling but it is for such a good cause.”
