How clean is your engine?
As designers have made modern engines more efficient and environmentally friendly by using new materials to reduce weight and tolerances. They have
needed the oil companies to develop new lubricants to cope with the demands that ever extending service intervals are imposing.

That is, fifteen years ago the normal oil change was done at approx 6,000 mile intervals.

This has been extended to 20,000 miles plus.
