World Speedway Champions

NGK-sponsored Australian Speedway star Jason Doyle in confident mood for the 2016 FIM World Championship season.

He is buoyant going into this weekend’s Polish Grand Prix in Warsaw after finishing second with 13 points in the season’s inaugural GP in Krsko, Slovenia.

The Swindon rider said: “We set goals that we want to achieve. I think reaching the top eight again would be very good. We’re going to push very hard to make the top three, but we’ll see what happens and I just want to enjoy my racing.
“We need to be consistent. It’s a new year and it’s early days. Even if you’re going well in the first GP, it can change that quick and you can be struggling. I’m going to be working very hard in the next few months and I want to be up there at the end.”

The season’s first GP was a mixed bag for ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd’s sponsored riders.

Triple world champion Greg Hancock reached the semi-finals in Slovenia, scoring 10 points, but Briton Chris Harris scored just three points at the event which was won by Denmark’s Peter Kildemand with 15 points.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Speedway. It has sponsored American ace Hancock for a number of years; supplying its specialist Iridium racing plugs which he uses on his 500cc motorcycles.

The supplier of original-equipment (OE) spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK sensors also sponsors Chris Harris’s Coventry Bees Speedway team and a number of individual riders.

In addition, the company also recently donated a cheque for £250 to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund at a meeting held at King’s Lynn.
