OE message to CV Parts Distributors

CV parts distributors are being introduced to Heavy Duty belt kits for Auxiliary Belt Drive Systems (ABDS) in a series of technical support sessions being conducted around the UK by the OE manufacturer’s Technical Training and Support Team.

Gates District Sales Manager Bob McAvan launched the series in the North East of England this week, beginning with specialist distributors in Durham. The Gates OE footprint on Auxiliary Belt Drive Systems (ABDS) covers product ranges for the world’s top seven truck manufacturers,” he says.

“Independent workshops have opportunities to add value and to demonstrate the strength of an ABDS preventive maintenance programme that Gates belt kits help to promote. The message is that operatros can continue to source OE products at aftermarket prices and benefit from the technical support available to them from an OE supplier,” he adds.

Some operators continue to regard service contracts as a convenient way to exercise strong budgetary control over fleet repair costs. Gates figures have detected a sea change throughout Europe.  More enlightened operators now regard OE quality aftermarket parts as an effective way to reduce maintenance costs without compromising the quality of the parts they want.

Increasing expertise among workshop staff, greater technical support from Gates and a reputation for reliability of its OE quality parts ranges are key reasons for the change.

Some of Gates’ recent OE successes demonstrate increasing confidence in the brand by vehicle manufacturers. For example, when DAF Trucks switched an important model range over to a Gates ABDS design, the superior performance and longer operational lifetimes of the drive system parts was specified as a reason for the change.  The applications involved include DAF XF 105 the XF 95 and the CF 85.

DriveAlign Tensioners and Micro-V Belts are available individually or in kit form as replacement parts and all parts are covered by the Gates two-year warranty.
