Aston Martin and TOTAL find the Winning Partnership

2016 has been a landmark year of racing for Aston Martin Racing and TOTAL Lubricants in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The culmination of hard work and dedication has seen Team AMR take both the WEC Drivers Championship with Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen and the LMGTE Pro Team title.

The season has been lengthy and a great challenge for everyone involved. 2016 marked the beginning of a partnership between TOTAL and Aston Martin, with this victory being hopefully only the first of many in the new relationship.

The FIA WEC consists of 9 gruelling endurance races around the world, from Great Britain, to Bahrain, with the shortest races of the year still lasting an intense 6 hours. The series also incorporates the famous Le Mans 24 Hour event.

Across the year, 72 hours of racing were completed, and after such a tremendous amount of hard work, to be winners at the year-end is very satisfying for Aston Martin Racing and TOTAL.

Aston Martin Racing team principal Paul Howarth states “We use the word in sport ‘marginal gains’ quite a lot. There’s been some changes, a switch of focus in the team. We brought people like TOTAL into the team and they’ve worked very closely with us on reliability, which is crucial for endurance.”

Stephen Parker from TOTAL Lubricants UK is enthusiastic about the partnership. “It’s great to see such an iconic British brand do so well on the world stage, especially in such a challenging race series.”

For TOTAL success is a matter of collaboration with motorsports teams, with manufacturers and with our clients: ‘Partnerships of the best motorsport teams’. Boldness, transparency, and trust favour the development of advanced technological solutions and breakthrough innovation. This is the result of a close relationship and a permanent reactivity between teams. Such partnerships cover the whole value chain: from research and development to commerce. This is why from track to road TOTAL QUARTZ is the winning engine oil, trusted by the most demanding experts, top racing teams, car maintenance professionals and by millions of drivers.

Here’s to a successful campaign in the future and the growing of an already successful partnership between Aston Martin and TOTAL.
