Makes Training Simple
An important message the Dayco team wanted to deliver to technicians visiting Automechanika Birmingham, was that care and attention is needed in order to fit timing belt kits correctly, but if the fitting procedure is followed, it is straight forward and the result will serve their customers well.
So, in addition to an impressive and welcoming stand that displayed a wide range of its pioneering original equipment (OE) power transmission design solutions, Dayco ran a number of daily interactive presentations, that educated and informed technicians by engaging with them and highlighting the solution to common problems that each of them would have experienced daily.
As well as these ‘on stand’ presentations, Dayco was also part of the event’s official technical seminar programme, made from a purpose built theatre, next to the Interactive Workshop feature area.
Here – in common with those made on the stand – the presentation, given by Glen Goldstone, Dayco’s technical manager, contained lots of practical information on how to correctly undertake timing belt replacement, delivered in a manner that technicians could connect with, rather than feel they were being lectured at in a classroom!
Steve Carolan, Dayco’s national sales manager said: “These presentations are well received because technicians can see that we are there to help. We know from experience there is a need to inform technicians regarding the mechanical side of vehicle repair and maintenance, particularly with the primary/timing and auxiliary drive systems on today’s vehicles.
“As a world leader and OE manufacturer, Dayco has unrivalled design expertise and knowledge of these drive systems, which is why we can help technicians understand their complexity and the challenges that service and repair work present.
“As a result, presenting technical information is an important objective for us, which is why, as well as Automechanika Birmingham, we are exhibiting at the Mechanex shows in Coventry and Sandown and have partnered with the Autotech 2017 training initiative and will be present at their Big Day Out training event. On all these occasions we will be making these presentations in order to make a practical difference to the technician and make their working lives easier.”
