Birchall Brothers Power to TT Success

Mansfield-based sidecar duo, Ben and Tom Birchall, put in a ‘bullish’ performance at this year’s Isle of Man TT races. With their LCR Honda sidecar deriving unrivalled starting power from Banner Batteries’ Bike Bull battery, the dynamic duo rode to secure their sixth TT victory that saw them once again crowned 2017 TT Sidecar Champions.

Indeed it was a winning double for the Birchall Brothers at this year’s event. Long time advocates of Banner’s Bike Bull battery performance technology, Ben and Tom set the pace in their first race with a stunning performance, recording a new lap record of 117. 119mph on lap two of the three-lap event. They then went on to add to their tally of wins on Friday by recording a decisive win in the second event, a result that saw them take first place once again on the winner’s podium, this time as overall Sidecar Champions.

In the final race, which extends over the challenging Mountain Course track measuring some 37 miles, and which features a seemingly never-ending series of bends, bumps, jumps, stone walls manhole covers and telegraph poles, the Mitchells of Mansfield supported brothers were knocked back into second place by John Holden and Lee Cain. However by the time they reached the famous Ramsey, the Birchall’s had turned it round and were leading by one and a half seconds. They were well ahead at the end of the first lap and stretched the gap even further on lap two with a fastest lap of 116.423s. After understandably easing of the gas a little on the final lap, Ben and Tom were sure of bringing the LCR Honda home safely, crossing the finish line to take their sixth TT victory and second double win.

With the supporting technology of the likes of Banner’s Bike Bull battery that provides perfect starting and plentiful power when required, Ben and Tom remain unbeaten in 2017, and they lead the FIM World Championship after winning every race to date. They also won the British 600cc Cup race at Oulton Park last month.

Commenting on their success, Ben said: “I am so happy that we have won two in a week and its thanks so much to our team, family and friends and, of course, our sponsors. We have got such a great package for this place, I love riding around here, and I can’t thank everyone enough.
“It’s such an honour to be able to race around here, especially on senior day with such a huge crowd who were all waving their programmes at us,”
he added.

Banner’s Bike Bull family is comprised of three models. The basic Bike Bull is a classic lead battery with an electrolyte pack. Representing the latest maintenance-free technology is the Bike Bull AGM. With high start performance, and capable of delivering more available power, Bike Bull AGM provides safe starting even in the case of short run use and is vibration resistant. Bike Bull AGM + SLA is the top-of-the-range battery that offers excellent protection against tipping and leaks. With lateral installation possible, this battery is particularly suitable for cross bikes and ATV/quads. All three models feature robust technology specifically designed for the burdens relating to motorcycle riding.
