Vauxhall Gear Linkage Failure
The Valeo Technical department have received several claims stating that after fitment of the clutch kits listed below, the issue being there is difficulty when changing from 1st gear to 2nd gear or when trying to engage reverse. After further investigation, Valeo have identified that the clutch kit itself is not at fault. On the older Vauxhall models listed below, a plastic gear linkage was originally fitted that features plastic ball and socket joints which eventually wear.
To rectify this issue, the design has changed with the larger sockets now underneath, and made of metal with plastic sockets. Additional plastic shields have also been incorporated to keep dirt and moisture from causing wear in the joints. Genuine GM part 93183155 (linkage repair kit) and 90523189 (guide control bolt) are required to rectify this issue. Aftermarket linkages are also available but may result in a stiffer or less accurate gear change. For this reason, Valeo advise to use only OE parts.
