Motorcycle Live donations

Big-hearted motorbike enthusiasts helped raise more than £6000 for charity when they visited NGK’s stand at the recent Motorcycle Live show.

The cash was raised for the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) and the Autistic Society by donations in exchange for NGK merchandise at the exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd exhibited alongside some of the biggest names in the industry at the nine-day show, playing host to a number of two-wheel stars it supports including Maria Costello MBE, Mission Racing’s Chrissy Rouse and Jordan Gilbert and Speedway riders Robert Lambert and Kyle Bickley.

Its stand featured British team Exactweld’s TZ Yamaha-engined bike that 22-year-old Gary Noel took to the European 250cc European championship in 1984; the LCR sidecar raced by the NGK-sponsored all-female sidecar team of Maria Costello MBE and Kirsty Hauxwell; and one of NGK-sponsored four-time World Speedway champion Greg Hancock’s old 500cc bikes.

Visitors to the stand also received free posters of MotoGP World champions Marc Márquez and Valentino Rossi and Greg Hancock.

NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said: “Motorcycle Live attracted more than 100,000 visitors over the duration of the show, many of whom ride bikes that are fitted with our spark plugs. We were very busy throughout the event and I would like to thank everyone who donated money for these two fantastic charities.”
