Conversion Kits FAQs

The Valeo Technical Support Department took time out to answer some frequently asked questions on conversion kits. Below are two of the most popular questions:

1. Do conversion kits cause vibration and crankshaft issues?

No, Valeo conversion kits are not the cause of vibration or potential crankshaft issues. Solid flywheel technology was used on passenger car vehicles before the inception of the 'Dual Mass Flywheel'.

Whilst there are advantages of Dual Mass Flywheels that will dampen vibration transmitted throughout the vehicle driveline, the solid flywheel conversion alternative utilises long travel dampener technology in the clutch plate that does the same function. In fact, the solid flywheel is being used more and more in modern vehicles with OE manufacturers; this provides an increased durability thanks to the solid flywheels low wear and improved thermal resistance.

2. How do I know if a conversion kit has been fitted to the vehicle?

Valeo provide a sticker notification in the box. This should be positioned within the engine compartment area. The purpose of which will then notify future repairers of the technology fitted to the vehicle.
