Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors
Exhaust gas temperature sensors are essential in modern vehicles as they protect components that are located in the flow of hot exhaust gas from critical overheating. Cambiare understands the importance of this and with over 150 parts in its range covering 7.7million vehicles on the UK roads, Cambiare ensures that it covers this product group within its range.
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors measure the temperature of the exhaust gas which is monitored by the ECU to help prevent damage to components. EGTS are primarily prone to damage during exhaust component replacements and should therefore be replaced simultaneously with a DPF and/ or exhaust, rather than waiting for the dashboard warning light to flash.
Other causes can include:
- Severe vibration that can break the connection of internal wires
- Excessively high temperatures (T>900°C) causing resistance deviation of the thermistor element
- Severely bent wires (where bending diameter<20mm) that can cause wire breakage
- Contamination from oil, antifreeze or poor fuel quality.
Timely diagnosis and replacement of a defective EGTS prevents damage to the DPF and subsequent engine damage.
