
PowerGrip kits re-launch for Renault K4M/K4J engines
Back in 2010 the Renault group upgraded the OE timing belt and tensioners on all Renault K4M/KJ4 engines. As a result of this change, Gates superseded its aftermarket parts and kits for these engines and launched upgraded new-generation parts and kits to follow the OE specification. Gates timing belt 5501XS was superseded by 5671XS and the associated tensioners T43064 and T43168 by respectively T43236 and T43238. The related kits also reflected these changes. But as the old-generation belt and tensioners are still perfectly applicable to K4J/K4M engines manufactured before 08/2010, they are now bringing the kits back into the market, to offer you and your customers an economical alternative for the older applications representing over 2 million VIO.
KITS RE-LAUNCH
Purchasing the new-generation PowerGrip® Kits (K015671XS, K025671XS, KP15671XS and KP25671XS) for use on older cars might raise the concern of parts being over-performing and over-priced. Gates want to address that concern by re-launching the old-generation PowerGrip® Kits for applications manufactured before 08/2010:
- K015501XS and KP15501XS are available as of January
- K025501XS and KP25501XS will become available in the near future
The re-launched kits are covered by the same warranty terms as our other kits in general.
NEVER MIX OLD AND NEW PARTS
All parts appear to be identical, but there is an essential operational difference. Keep strictly to the prescribed parts for the applications as recommended by Gates. The new-generation tensioners T43236 and T43238 deliver less belt tension and can therefore only be used with the new-generation belt 5671XS. That’s why the new-generation parts should never be mixed with the old-generation parts.
