TOYOTA GAZOO Racing hoping to press home advantage at 6 Hours of Fuji
- TOYOTA GAZOO Racing aiming for top two podium positions at Fuji Speedway
- Toyota and DENSO seeking victory in their founding nation
- Team looking to extend lead at the top of the WEC
- TS050 HYBRID powertrains utilise DENSO components
Currently sitting top of the WEC with standout wins at Le Mans and 6 hours of Spa, the DENSO-sponsored TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team is looking to further extend its lead at Fuji Speedway this weekend.
After a disappointing Silverstone result, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing heads to Japan hoping to increase its lead in the march towards the Championship.
With both DENSO and TOYOTA founded in Japan, the DENSO-sponsored TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team has a fine record at the 6 Hours of Fuji, winning on five of its six visits to the circuit.
The 2017 race saw the team finish in first and second place, just seconds ahead of its Porsche LMP Team rivals, when the race was stopped early due to fog.
The race takes place at the Fuji Speedway which is best known for having one of the longest straights in the motorsport world, giving the team ample opportunity to make the most of its championship winning Hybrid engines in the TS050 vehicles.
The TS050 features several key DENSO components including the rear hybrid motor, the inverter, spark plugs as well as the oil and water coolers.
The DENSO-sponsored outfit has been in commanding form, with TOYOTA leading the teams’ rankings thanks to a combination of the advanced hybrid technology and a strong team of drivers.
The pre-season addition of F1 legend Fernando Alonso to a line-up that already boasted Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima, Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López has further strengthened the team and hopes are high for another Fuji victory.
Last year it was the #8 TS050 of Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Anthony Davidson which clinched victory ahead of the second placed #7 piloted by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López.
The FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Fuji will take place from 12 - 14 October.
