BHRC coverage captures a wider audience

Rally fans that enjoyed the recent coverage on Motors TV of this year’s Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship opening round at the Mid Wales Stages can now relive all the action online, as the one-hour programme has been posted on Youtube.

The programme is part of the excellent Special Stage Rally Review series and captures all the drama of the 55-mile battle through Hafren, Myherin and Sweet Lamb. Top class trackside footage includes Rikki Proffitt and co-driver Phill Harrison’s final stage demonstration of Porsche power that snatched victory in Category One from rivals, Dessie Nutt / Geraldine McBride. There is a strong flavour of the on-stage, in-car action, as Category Two winners David Stokes / Guy Weaver charge full tilt through the opening Pikes Peak stage in their Ford Escort Mk1. Also, in what was probably the drive of the day, there is superb in-car coverage as Category Three driver Shawn Rayner, co-driven by Declan Dear, power their Pinto-engined Escort Mk2 flat out through Pikes Peak 2 to pip Ernie and Will Graham’s more powerful BDG Escort by just 2.8 seconds.

Along with a varied supporting cast of cars from the great days of rallying - Minis, Imps, Cortina Mk1s and 2s, Volvo Amazons and Saabs, supplemented by informative commentary from Special Stage Rally Review’s new young presenter Ollie Dickinson, this is 60 minutes of tremendous viewing and an ideal advert for the new-look Mintex MSA BHRC as the race to become 2013 MSA British Historic Rally Champion continues

Simon Bradley, Marketing Manager for Mintex adds: ‘The rally so far has been a major success and the professional coverage provided by Special Stage is exceptional. The synergies between the Mintex brand and the Historic Rally speak for themselves and it feels good to be back sponsoring a major championship’.
