Cosan supports Mobil 1 Team Sussex motorsport challenge
Cosan Lubricants is supporting Sussex University undergrads in their ambitious technical project aimed at winning the prestigious international ‘Formula Student’ motorsport competition under the banner of Mobil 1 Team Sussex.
Organised under the auspices of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, ‘Formula Student’ challenges young engineers from universities around the world to compete against each other in a single-seat race car which they have designed and developed from scratch. Cosan Lubricants will be supplying the Sussex students with Mobil and Comma brand products and team clothing as they mount their challenge for the sixth successive year.
‘Formula Student’ consists of a series of static and dynamic events stretching over four days. Static events include a design report, cost report and business proposal: the dynamic elements include acceleration, skid pad, sprint and endurance tests. Points are allocated for each event, the winning team being the one with the highest points aggregate at the end of the four days. The Sussex team first entered ‘Formula Student’ in 2009 and are determined to improve on their performance last year which saw them finish 14th out of 90 teams in the endurance event. In 2011, their best overall result was 34th out of 96 competitors.
“With our long history in motorsport, we’re really happy to be supporting this project, and wish the team every success,” said Cosan Lubricants spokesperson, Mike Bewsey. “It’s good to think that we may be contributing to a bright future in motorsport for some of these young engineers, and that they will have positive memories of Cosan and its products as they set out on their careers.”
