MORGAN EARNS BEST BTCC POINTS HAUL SO FAR AT SNETTERTON

WIX Racing’s Adam Morgan enjoyed his most successful British Touring Car Championship weekend to date at Snetterton. Adam was absolutely rock solid all weekend delivering strong performances in qualifying and three fantastic points-scoring finishes in all three races with two top five positions in the first two action packed races. WIX Filters, celebrated their 75th Anniversary and Adam and the team gave them a little extra to cheer about with a fantastic weekend of on track action and a great weekend of hospitality and fun off the track.

For the Snetterton round of the BTCC, the livery of the WIX Racing Mercedes A Class was adapted to incorporate the WIX 75 year old logo. Adam’s usual number, 33 which was his first number he was issued when he started karting years ago, was replaced with number 75 to furthermore promote the anniversary celebrations. Along with this, the WIX Racing promotional team handed out 75 goodie bags at the Pit Lane walkabout and autograph session, to the first 75 people who visited the WIX Racing Pit garage. We also gave away 75 WIX retro design baseball caps and more via the social media platforms to involve everyone connected or supporting WIX.

The hospitality suite also displayed the WIX 75 year logo in place of the WIX Filters logo along with a large banner displaying the evolution of WIX Filters and some imagery of old machinery and advertising. Every guest to the WIX Racing hospitality received a selection of 75 year anniversary gifts including a mug, branded sweets and more.

Adam qualified the WIX Racing Mercedes A class on the fourth row in 8th after a very tight qualifying session. Adam converted his grid position to an outstanding, season’s best fourth place during an epic race one. Despite carnage all around him, he kept his cool in the red hot heat and closed the gap on the factory Honda of Matt Neil almost catching him on the line. “It’s Mega the team have yet again given me a fantastic car, we are still a little down on straight line speed but the handling of the WIX Racing Mercedes is phenomenal” enthused Morgan “The setup of the car was spot on, perfect. I have said it before and I will say it again and again, I truly believe I have the best most diligent, hardworking team in the entire paddock.”

In race two Adam again had a brilliant start, maintained his focus and concentration and after the initial hectic first few laps Adam brought the WIX Racing Mercedes A Class home in a comfortable 5th place, again closing in on Matt Neil but not having the opportunity to make a clean pass. Adam comments “I am happy with a solid 5th after the chaos at the beginning of the race. I had to play catch up and pushing hard at the beginning of the race can only lead to the tyres going off towards the end” Adam continued “championship points are essential and the slightest of mistakes or contact with another driver can ruin all the hard work that the team has put in. We are here to win races and championships and my car has been mega this weekend we are getting closer and closer to where we want to be”

Race three, Adam started the reverse grid race 3 from 6th after the usual, exciting bumper to bumper action Adam became the filling in a Honda sandwich! Caught between Gordon Shedden and Matt Neil unfortunately Neil tagged Adam from behind and although the resulting slide was brilliantly saved, it did cause him to lose a few places. Adam still managed to bring WIX Racing Mercedes home in 8th place capping off an outstanding all round weekend with three superb top ten finishes.

“I am a bit gutted about my position in the last race but, happy overall with the weekend” Commented Adam “I was on the soft compound tyres and after the collision with Matt it was really difficult to get back on the pace once my tyres had gone off. I have scored a load of points this weekend probably my best so far in the BTCC. The car has been mega and WIX Filters have had a fantastic day to celebrate their 75th anniversary, I changed my race number from 33 to 75 and the car design looked tremendous. I always thank my brilliant team for their efforts. I would like to thank all the team’s sponsors for their support and the outstanding products they supply. We are so very grateful and really couldn’t do what we do at Ciceley Motorsport without you all.”

Norman Burgess Commercial & Marketing Manager “My favourite BTCC weekend in the last 5 years by far. We are all fully aware of Adams ability and he really showed what he is capable of this weekend. Paul Ridgway and his pit crew were, as always, impeccable. All the team’s sponsors joined in with WIX Filters 75th anniversary celebrations and there was an infectious party atmosphere in the hospitality suite, limited edition caps, posters, flags and lollipops were given away and the perfect weather really was the icing on the cake. The hardworking hospitality team also really enjoyed the weekend and Knockhill can’t come soon enough for us all.”

The weekend was a huge success for the WIX team, incorporating employees, the race team, customers and the WIX racing fans, in the celebration of WIX Filters 75th anniversary. Wayne Stevens, Managing Director, WIX Filters comments ‘We were proud to celebrate the brands heritage and to have the opportunity to couple the celebrations with Motor racing, which is at the heart of the brands pedigree, was perfect. The support for the team was phenomenal and the live TV coverage further supported that. WIX today is a forward thinking and innovative Filtration manufacturer, with a customer focused outlook, so that bolstered with the years of development, only makes WIX a stronger company in the Automotive aftermarket.’

Adams points haul sees him back into the top ten in the overall Championship and he is 6th in the independents Trophy. The WIX Filters Racing Team is 7th in the Teams Championship (first single car entry) 5th in the Independent Team Trophy again first single car entry a fantastic effort with only one car that scores points.
