MORGAN MAINTAINS MAGNIFICENT MOMENTUM
Adam Morgan and his WIX Racing team headed north to Knockhill for Round 7 of the British Touring Car Championship last weekend. Adam earned his best point’s haul of the season with 3 outstanding top ten results. His current form has seen him finish within the top ten on 7 consecutive occasions.
The inclement weather saw Adam struggle in qualifying and he was only able to place his Mercedes A Class on row 9 in 17th position.
“Qualifying has been difficult this year” said Adam “the two free practice sessions were wet and finding the perfect set up for one car is tricky. The BMW’s were flying this weekend but they have 3 cars to test different set up strategies on. Thankfully my engineer, Paul Ridgway, is the best in the business and he always manages to decipher the data and my feed back then apply the best possible changes to the A Class Mercedes for race day even if it means burning the midnight oil every Saturday night”
In Race 1 Adam produced yet another season’s best drive around the undulating, tight and bumpy Knockhill Circuit. After a superb, uphill, blind start Adam immediately began to pick up places and in one outstanding move he took 3 cars

at the hairpin managing to bring the WIX Racing Mercedes home in a brilliant 6th place. “I am so grateful to my team, they have again overnight turned the car around” said a beaming Morgan. “After yesterdays appalling weather they have given me a mega car that works perfectly in the dry, I really don’t know how they do it”
Race 2 saw Adam start from the 3rd row in 6th position. After an initial crowded few laps he managed to find a rhythm and was again able to secure a solid 6th place collecting yet more valuable championship points.
Race 3, the reverse grid, it became apparent that the best tyres to use on the day were the softer option. Each team has to nominate which race they use them before qualifying and Adam had used them in race 1 to his advantage overtaking 11 cars to finish in 6th place, the harder tyres going off the pace early. Adam with some brilliant driving and with very limited grip finished the day with a magnificent 7th place.
A very happy Adam “what a solid weekend, Paul and the rest of the WIX Racing Team worked, as always, so hard and they really did save the day. The strategies and fine tweaks made to the WIX Racing A Class Mercedes were absolutely perfect and we moved forward all weekend, it was ‘almost’ perfect!!”
Norman Burgess Commercial & Marketing Manager, “Paul Ridgway, Martin Kenyon, Sparky, Chris and Geoff are doing an unbelievable job on the car week in week out. Chunky, the best tyre man on the planet, has recently had an operation and has been out of action for the last two rounds. Kieron Kenough (JV) and young Tom have stepped up to the plate and carried out the complicated task perfectly, it’s a brilliant team effort in the garage overseen by Adam’s Dad Russell”.
“The Hospitality side of the team is perfect, after some atrocious weather on Friday and Saturday, Sunday was lovely and the Knockhill circuit looked beautiful. The Hospitality suite was located in the middle of the circuit and the viewing for the VIP guests was spot on, it couldn’t have been better. We hosted a vast array of age groups and 2 year old Katie had a ball, even posing as a grid girl during her ‘second’ grid walk so watch out Laura and Mimi!! Steve Rossi the WIX Racing Chef provided all 80 guests with his usual superb 3 course Sunday roast. The team really do enjoy the day as much as the guests, everybody is working together in perfect harmony and the weekends run flawlessly.”
This weekend’s points haul sees Adam further cement his position in the top ten of the Drivers Championship. He is 6th in the Independent Driver Standings and 5th in the Jack Sears Trophy. WIX Racing Team are currently 7th in the Teams standings, 5th in the Independent Teams Standing and still the leading single car entered team in both Championships.
