New to range
NTK exhaust gas temperature sensors
Anew range of NTK exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) has been launched into the UK automotive aftermarket by NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd.
EGTS monitor the exhaust temperatures to enable efficient protection of vital components located in the flow of hot exhaust gases in single and twin turbo-charged cars. EGTS from the NTK brand are original equipment (OE) in every third car worldwide.
Announcing the news at the Automechanika Show in Frankfurt, Germany, the company said NTK EGTS are a popular choice for vehicle manufacturers as they provide extreme resilience against heat and vibrations, have high measuring accuracy, fast light-off times and an exceptionally wide measuring range.
Ten years after NGK’s first European OE business with these sensors, it now supplies 35 percent of all EGTS for OE globally with this market share rising to more than 60% for the mounting position upstream of the turbo charger.

The new EGTS assortment for the aftermarket offers great business opportunities for distributors and workshops.
Initially it includes the 20 most popular EGTS types from NTK, each of which is identical to the respective OES part. Taken together, they offer a perfect sensor for almost two million cars in the UK for brands that include Audi, BMW, Dacia, Ford, Renault, Seat, Skoda and VW.
To ease stock keeping, NGK has developed a special label for the EGTS aftermarket packaging which can be scanned in upright and horizontal position and details the mounting position of the included sensor to prevent incorrect installation.
Marko Wowczyna, Automotive Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “With the launch of the EGTS range, we provide the aftermarket with yet another part of our specialist know-how from original equipment. Distributors and workshops can now increase their competitiveness, as we offer them an identical alternative to the OES sensor.”

NGK is renowned for supplying OE spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda sensors to the UK independent automotive aftermarket and has also announced major additions to the ignition coils range which it successfully launched into aftermarket last year.

Major expansion of its ignition coils range
The company has updated the range to reflect recent changes in the market and the 22 new coil types provide a perfect match for vehicles that include the VW Up, Mini, Vauxhall Adam, Vauxhall Astra J (Mk6), Vauxhall Mokka, Mazda 6 and Renault Clio (Mk4).
In total, the range now comprises 341 ignition coils, thus offering a part for a high percentage of the UK car parc.
It offers a great number of benefits for distributors and workshops and includes both modern and traditional coil designs.
NGK has also simplified customers’ coils sourcing with just 12 package sizes for easy stock-keeping and efficient logistics. In addition to the usual bar code, part number and stock number, each individual coil package label displays a pictogram of the relevant coil to aid correct first-time part selection.
Marko Wowczyna, Automotive Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “Last year’s launch of the ignition coils range in the UK made NGK a true ‘one-stop’ supplier of ignition products and has been very well received by the market.
“We are committed to the highest quality, the widest market coverage and top class sales support and the range extension is the latest proof that we are living up to this promise.

“Ignition is our core competence. Consequently we can vouch for the quality of ignition coils that carry our name because we have ensured that they meet our usual high standards.”
