Triple World Speedway champion Greg Hancock is to make a guest appearance
on NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd’s stand at the forthcoming 2014 MotorCycle Live Show.
The 44-year-old American will be on NGK’s stand (Hall 2 2B20) at the NEC Birmingham on Wednesday, November 26, just a month after securing the 2014 FIM Speedway World Championship.
He became the oldest rider to win the title when he clinched his third world title at the Borygo Torun FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland.
Californian-born Greg – the 1997 and 2011 world champion – is the first American to win Speedway’s biggest prize three times and his victory also saw him become the first rider to win the SGP series despite having missed a round, after suffering multiple fractures to his left index finger.
On winning the title, Greg said: "Every year I ride, the biggest carrot at the end is to win the World Championship. The first one was fantastic; the second one was amazing and this is unreal.”
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has sponsored Greg for a number of years, supplying its specialist Iridium racing plugs which he uses on his 500cc bikes, and is delighted he is joining the company at the show, which is being held on November 22-30
Marko Wowczyna, Automotive Director, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “We are thrilled that Greg has agreed to be our guest at the show. He is very well respected within not only the Speedway world, but across the entire motorcycling scene, and is very popular with British fans. He is a great ambassador for Speedway and NGK and we are delighted that he will join us at Motorcycle Live so soon after his latest world championship.”
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has a long-standing association with Speedway. As well as individual riders, it sponsors the Coventry Bees team which finished runners-up in the 2014 British Elite League.
The company has long been synonymous with the two-wheel bike scene both on the road and also in the motorcycling racing arena where its spark plugs have helped the world’s leading teams and riders to numerous victories.
Nine out of 10 bikers rely on NGK spark plugs which is no surprise as the company supplies the original equipment (OE) spark plugs for most motorcycles on the market.
NGK also supplies OE glow plugs and NTK Lambda sensors and recently launched a new range of OE NTK exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) and announced major additions to its ignition coils range.
