Announces plans for a new distribution strategy
AMK As a response to a changing automotive industry, AMK has made the decision to move to a centralised distribution centre at Dewsbury, resulting in the potential closure of all other AMK branches. The change is expected to be finalised by the second quarter of 2015.
Over the last 18 months AMK has conducted a range of internal changes and the closure of its branch network should be seen as a natural step in the current process of streamlining its business. The change will increase efficiency and comply with customer demands.
“The UK Automotive Aftermarket has seen fierce competition over recent years, affecting prices and margins in the market. A restructuring of our business is necessary to ensure that we can continue to support our customers in the long term, as well as secure the future development of AMK”, Managing Director at AMK, Alan Griffiths explains.
Simplified process
The New Distribution strategy will allow stock to be held and managed in one location providing greater availability across its product ranges, making it more visible to the customers enquiring electronically.
“In a market where there is significant movement towards electronic ordering we believe moving our products to a centralised location will increase availability which will ultimately benefit our customers”. Alan Griffiths continues.
The new strategy will mean that all customers will benefit from single invoicing for stock orders as well as next day delivery before 12 noon for the majority of the AMK customers.
Consultations have begun with staff who may be affected.
