Dedicated Battery Charger for Auxiliary Batteries
Many vehicles have more than one battery. The second battery is an auxiliary battery used to provide power for domestic use to run lights and appliances in caravans or motorhomes or as power unit for specialist applications in welfare or utility vehicles.
The traditional method or recharging and maintaining this battery is to use a split relay system. However, using this method can have an effect on efficient charging, as there is a loss of voltage through resistance within the long wiring.
Ring’s new DC-to-DC Charger the RSCDC30, is a dedicated SmartCharger for charging auxiliary batteries. It takes the energy from a vehicle's main battery and converts it into multistage output for charging an additional battery. The charger compensates for any voltage drop in order to maximise charge to an auxiliary battery, and so provides a more efficient charging process.

Being a SmartCharger it will charge multiple battery types, making it appropriate to be fitted to a wide range of vehicles. It is also goes through a multistage charge cycle to intelligently manage the charging cycle of the battery to optimise the battery performance.
The unit produces 30amps of charging current to charge large capacity 12v batteries as used in Motorhomes, utility vehicles and work vans. The unit includes a wide input voltage range allowing it be used in many applications, including commercial vehicles.
The RSCDC30 includes an LCD display to allow configuration for different battery types and easy monitoring of the charge cycle. To ensure the DC-to-DC charger does not drain the main battery it has an automatic shut off if it detects the charge is running low.
When not in operation the DC-to-DC charger will go into a sleep mode so that it is not constantly drawing power and causing the main battery to go flat.
However, a second input from solar panels is available, so that the DC-to-DC Charger can harness additional energy, to charge the auxiliary battery when the main battery is at rest.
