UAN Distributor Fast Parts Wales Ltd has invested in a New Technical Training centre so that independent garages in South Wales can keep up to date with the latest vehicle technology.

The training centre is located at Fast Parts Wales’ Abercarn site and is capable of housing up to 40 people per training session.

A number of training sessions are available to all mechanics of independent garages and, with the help of Fast Parts supply base, will cover the very latest vehicle technology,

providing mechanics with the tools and information required to carry out an effective service and repair of modern vehicles.

Garages attending the training courses will be charged £10 per ticket with all proceeds being donated to the Ty Hafan Childrens Hospice. The first training programme, in September, is a “New Technologies” course run in combination with UAN and Exponentia and is already sold out.

Phil Dodd, UAN Managing Director commented “We are extremely pleased to be supporting another one of our distributors in the provision of training. The responsibility to train technicians to enable them to service and repair today’s increasingly complex vehicles should not solely rest with the independent garage but be part of the support package available from a UAN motor factor operating in an evolving marketplace. The future of the independent aftermarket depends on both motor factors and garages being technically competent in vehicle technology and the effective distribution and installation of quality parts.UAN Training & Education is at the forefront of this drive to educate and train motor factors and garages and to ensure the automotive aftermarket continues to keep up with an ever changing vehicle parc and to support distributors like Fast Parts that share our enthusiasm for training and education.”

The second training programme, also sold out, will be carried out by Fast Parts & UAN Timing belt supplier Gates in October.

Nathan Travis, Fast Parts Wales general manager, said: “We’re delighted to be opening a new technical training centre as it will prove a valuable resource for skilled mechanics and garages throughout South Wales. At every opportunity, we’re trying to add value to our offer and this technical training centre will enable mechanics to receive the highest quality training and support locally.”
