GAINS ADDITIONAL IT HEAD

The First Line Group (FLG) is delighted to be able to announce that it has expanded its management board with the elevation of Kelvin Olds to the position of IT director of the group.

“We originally recruited Kelvin as our IT manager last September,” said FLG’s co-founder John Madden, “but it very quickly became clear to us that his experience and ability could be a major asset to the business as a whole and he therefore deserved a place on the board.

“We have always done things a little different at First Line, always driven of course by the expectations of our customers. So instead of a board predominantly filled with those with a sales and finance bent, we have spread the net wider to include those with manufacturing and IT knowledge, a role that I myself have fulfilled to date. Kelvin’s appointment therefore continues a tradition to keep IT represented at the highest level within the group and will further strengthen the business.”

Commenting on his appointment Kelvin added: “Although I don’t come from an automotive background it’s fair to say I’m quite a petrol head having competed in local rallying/racing back in NZ. I am therefore certainly looking forward to combining this passion with my IT skills and experience to ensure we continue to have a solid IT foundation that fully supports and complements FLG as it continues to grow.

“It is great to be able to bring in experience from outside the industry to complement the existing business structure and my experience with AMT-Sybex and energy providers such as Centrica, EDF and RWE npower certainly allows me to bring a different perspective, which I believe will benefit our systems and processes, and in turn our customers.”

Although born in New Zealand, Kelvin, who is married and has two young sons, has been resident in the UK since 2005. Alongside his passion for motorsport, like all Kiwis, Kelvin is also a rugby fanatic where they have a half decent national team!
