UAN supplier First Line is reacting to the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide legislation with the launch of an awareness campaign highlighting the risks of supplying non-OE matching parts. Under the new legislation, motor factors that supply spurious quality parts could face prosecution if the vehicle the part is fitted to is involved in an accident, resulting in a fatality. Jeff Earl, First Line, Marketing Services Manager, said: "It's a big possibility that if you are uncertain of the origin or integrity of the part you are supplying or fitting, you could be liable if that part proves to be defective and someone dies as a result. There's an attitude that persists in the trade of I'm buying a £5 wishbone because I've never had a problem with one yet. Well the operative word is yet."
