Gates has strengthened its Synchronous Belt Drive Systems (SBDS) range by adding 14 part numbers to its timing belt kit including water pump range.

As one of the worlds leading suppliers of belts and tensioners, Gates says the move will benefit models drawn from a wide range of vehicle manufacturers. Audi, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Ford, Fiat, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen are just a few from the range commonly repaired by independent all makes vehicle repair specialists.

A typical Gates PowerGrip® Kit Plus Water Pump box includes all of the parts required for a complete overhaul of the SBDS. This may include guide pulley, tensioner pulley, timing belt and water pump, depending upon individual vehicle requirements.

Gates says a complete overhaul of the SBDS represents a more economical approach to longterm vehicle repair. In most cases, installing a belt kit and including a water pump in the procedure takes the same amount of time. Not only is it good repair practice, it takes account of the likely wear to the water pump, which has already completed a full duty cycle.

Peace of mind for the end user is a major benefit, but garage users also appreciate that in the unlikely case that a subsequent drive system problem arises, all of the components will be included in the same inspection procedure.

The extension of the Gates PowerGrip® Kit Plus Water Pump range follows recent extensions of Gates Auxiliary Belt Drive Systems range and strengthens the manufacturer's position as a leader in the drive systems parts supply market.
