Introduce a CSC Tool

Hella Gutmann Solutions has introduced their latest piece of advanced test equipment, the CSC (Camera & Sensor Calibration) Tool. With the increasing amount of advanced sensor technology in modern vehicles, the latest CSC device will be a welcome addition to a workshop’s range of diagnostic equipment.

The CSC tool has been developed by Hella Gutmann Solutions to work in conjunction with the mega macs range of diagnostic devices. It communicates with the vehicle’s camera or radar systems, the sensors of which are normally fitted to the vehicle’s windscreen and incorporated into the rear view mirror, or the radar sensor located near the front grille. These ensure the correct calibration of the vehicle’s axis. This calibration is critical to ensure that safety systems, such as the adaptive cruise control, lane departure, autonomous emergency braking and intelligent lighting technologies are all correctly aligned.

Sensor and cameras for all of these sophisticated systems must be calibrated and adjusted with the utmost precision. Failure to do so resulting in a slight shift in position of the radar head or camera in relation to the geometric axle can cause the system to fail, or of even more concern, can deliver incorrect results.

What this means for the garage or workshop is that following an accident repair, or maintenance for example, the steering may be correctly repaired from a mechanical perspective, but without the correct calibration it will be misaligned when it comes to recognising the car’s position in relation to the road.

With many garages looking to future proof their business, it isn’t an option to ‘opt out’, they must invest in the latest equipment to keep pace with the rapidly advancing technologies.
