In the all important battery making process

Two million pounds saved in five years on energy spend, a ten per cent reduction on consumption year-on-year.

Yuasa Battery UK is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of valve regulated lead acid batteries. Employing 320 people, the Ebbw Vale plant produces over one million batteries each year. The Carbon Trust has helped Yuasa to reduce its energy use, looking at aspects of process design addressing areas where they use a lot of energy, for example in steam. The Carbon Trust identified an energy efficient alternative that delivered not only financial savings but also complied to the very specific requirements of the battery-making process.
