Comma driver victorious again in major championship title race.
Comma’s motor sport programmes continue to bear heavy fruit, with 18 year old Will Palmer dominating the season and breaking all previous records to win the 2015 Duo BRDC Formula 4 championship. Building on a successful campaign where he won the 2014 Formula 4 winter series, Palmer drove his Comma-sponsored car to victory in an unprecedented 50% of this year’s 24 races, setting an all-time record of 592 championship points which is unlikely to be equalled any time soon. His exploits have immediately earned him nomination as one of the six contenders for the prestigious McLaren Autosport Award, which includes such Formula 1 luminaries as David Coulthard and 2009 World Champion Jenson Button among its previous winners.
Will, from Southwater, East Sussex is the younger brother of Jolyon Palmer, who carried Comma’s colours to record breaking victory in the international GP2 championship in 2014 and is now the third driver for the Lotus Formula 1 team. Both are following in the wheel- tracks of their father, Jonathan, a former Formula 1 driver and now chief executive of Motor Sport Vision, which owns the world renowned PalmerSport driving experience at Bedford Autodrome and four of the UK’s top race circuits including Brands Hatch and Snetterton.
Congratulating Will on his outstanding achievement, Comma spokesperson Mike Bewsey said: “We were thrilled by Will’s performance and successes throughout the season against fierce competition from other young drivers from around the world, all of them aiming like him for a career in Formula 1. In addition to sponsoring Will’s car, Comma is also Technical Partner and exclusive supplier of engine oils, coolants and maintenance chemicals to Duo BRDC Formula 4, so we have a special interest in how every car in the series performs. We know of no more demanding environment than motor sport to prove and demonstrate the ‘fit for purpose’ quality and reliability of the products we supply to our independent distributor partners in the aftermarket.”
