Working on engine compartments, suspension systems, exhausts and other aspects of car maintenance requires light to identify faults. Today mechanics can chose from a wide range of inspection lamps. Over time these have evolved to include magnets, hooks and clips to make working with both hands possible.

After receiving feedback from and observing mechanics at work, Ring realised that there was a need for a mechanics head torch. The RIHL2000 is Ring’s first head torch designed for mechanics, providing the best light for hands free operation. Wherever the mechanic looks, light will be there to illuminate.

The 3w Cree LED provide 320 lumens of light output. It also has a 50o rotating head so the light can be directed to the precise area required. Importantly the unit is made from tough robust Aluminium to withstand the tough working environment with a garage or workshop.

The lamp is fitted with an adjustable padded head strap for added comfort. The battery compartment at the back has again been designed to withstand the knocks and impacts in a garage. Importantly for mechanics, it has been designed to not cause discomfort when lying on your back to inspect under a car. The padding and the size of the compartment helps prevent irritation from the straps when lying flat.

4 x AAA batteries are included providing 8 hours of continuous operating time. The lamp is also waterproof making it ideal for outdoor use, ideal for mobile mechanics or for road side assistance.

Bhavesh Mistry – Product Manager for Ring Automotive says “We know mechanics have been using leisure head torches, but they are just not designed for the garage. We have worked hard to produce a head torch that is bright, comfortable to wear and built for the job in hand. Mechanics finally have an inspection head lamp specially designed for their needs.
