Engine Management & Stop-Start Systems

ROLLING COMPONENTS LTD launched Engine Management products as a Sole distributor of Vehicle Sense Products in the UK & Europe. Rolling Components & vehicle Sense worked together for at least 2 years on this project to come up with Tried & tested quality products for Engine Management which include MAF Meter, EGR Valves & Ignition Coils. Both the Companies invested Time & Money to work exclusively with TS16949 factories to make the products 100% OEM interchangeable, reliable & durable to keep your engine running.

MAF METER is an important part of Engine Management as it conveys the readings of the air flow rate entering in the fuel injected internal combustion chamber, to the ECU. After receiving the readings from MASS air flow meters Engine Control Unit (ECU) balances the correct fuel mass supplied to engine. Malfunction of MAF meters can significantly decrease the performance of your Engine, ECU finds it difficult to balance the fuel supply to engine, therefore emission will go up resulting failure in MOT’s as per European emission Laws. Rolling Components supply the MAF sensors which work on HOT WIRE principle whether it is Analogue or Digital. All these sensors are 100% OE interchangeable & include different types e.g. Bosch, Siemens etc. As a partner & sole distributor of Vehiclesense, Rolling Components Ltd has come up with quality MAF meter to give peace of mind to the vehicle owners/their customers.

IGNITION COIL works as a major component of the ignition system. It converts the battery power to boost the voltage which fires the spark plug and allows proper combustion to run the engine. The new technology pencil coils can convert the voltage drawn from battery up to 40K volts. There are different types of Ignition Coils available, e.g. Block Coils, Rail Coils & Pencil Coils. Vehiclesense is doing all different types of IG coils to cover 80% of the European applications.

EGR VALVE is an important part in your car to control the emission. Exhaust gas recirculation valve cuts down the emission by letting a portion of exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber & cuts down the emission.  An EGR valve is often located on the intake manifold. Failing of an EGR valve can increase the Emission, Fuel consumption, Engine overheating, which will result your vehicle gets failed in MOT. If an EGR valve is stuck open it will essentially cause a vacuum leak, leading to inefficient combustion, rough idling etc. If the combustion chamber is flooded with exhaust gas from an open EGR valve, it will not function properly as it need the oxygen to burn the fuel. If the EGR valve is stuck closed, emission of nitrogen oxides will rise, and your vehicle may start to knock.  Old EGR valves should be replaced with Vehiclesense new EGR valve to correct the problems.

Stop-Start Systems
Many automakers are adopting the engines with stop-start systems which cut down the fuel consumption.
The stop-start system shuts down the engine at idle and immediately restarts it when the driver presses the accelerator or lifts his foot off the brake. In coming year’s majority of cars will have the Stop-Start system?

Engine Control Unit (ECU) plays an important role making stop-start systems work reading the movement of accelerator and brake pedal that make the Engine Stop & Start. Depressing the brake pedal conveys a signal to ECU that means READY to go & when a car completely stops, the controller shuts the engine down. To give the engine an instantaneous start ECU work according to the design of the system, type of transmission, pre-position of the starter motor drive etc.

Stop-start systems can cut down the fuel consumption and pollution especially in the City traffic. As per reports a consumer can gain up to 3.5%-6% of fuel savings on Stop-Start system. Most systems work to restart in half a second or less. Whilst doing this the engine demands a lot from battery & batteries are getting better & better with AGM type. The starters can take up to 400K cycles depending on their design & make. Bosch, Valeo & Denso have different number of life cycles starting from 200K-400K. We at Rolling Component’s now carry over twenty part numbers at present and will be increasing these further through the year.
