Shock Absorber ever produced
During last month’s Automechanika show in Frankfurt, Tenneco hosted more than 2,700 customers on its stand on the first two days of Automechanika alone. Star of the show was the all-new Monroe OESpectrum, an innovative, lightweight aftermarket suspension technology that provides exceptional road-holding capability, minimal noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) and a smoother ride – making it appealing to today’s increasingly discerning drivers.
OESpectrum leverages Tenneco's unique OE expertise to deliver a superior ride experience that drivers will notice and appreciate. It gives installers the ability to offer a superior driving experience which has previously been available only through original equipment (OE) products, making them more competitive. According to Bruce Ronning, vice president and general manager, Europe aftermarket, OESpectrum is "simply the best aftermarket shock absorber ever produced." By 2017, with the addition of OESpectrum, the Monroe range will cover 93% of all vehicles.
"Tenneco is redefining the premium segment in the aftermarket," said Bruce. "OESpectrum offers something for everyone, whether at wholesale distributor, installer or consumer level. It answers the question of 'what's in it for me?' across our entire value chain. It helps us fulfil our objective of delivering profitability to our customers and strengthens the independent aftermarket's ability to compete effectively in today's highly competitive environment."
Monroe OESpectrum shocks feature the revolutionary, patented Monroe R-TECH®2 Rebound Valving Technology™ uses two sets of precisely calibrated disks separated by an eccentric “helical disk” to eliminate unwanted, abrupt changes in damping force. The more precise transition between damping control phases helps ensure more consistent control characteristics across a broader range of driving situations and conditions. The R-TECH®2 technology provides virtually instantaneous feedback and response to changing driving conditions for exceptional road-holding capability, a smoother ride and increased driver control and confidence. This technology is combined with Tenneco’s new high-speed Impact Control Valve. This, in turn, helps each OESpectrum unit deliver a unique blend of world-class control and reduced NVH.
Other enhancements featured in Monroe OESpectrum units are premium chrome plating on the piston rod; a new, advanced-design oil seal; internal coil spring rebound stop on many units; new, closed anti-friction PTFE piston band; and premium semi-synthetic oil formulation.
“Monroe OESpectrum shocks allow workshops and technicians to eliminate the compromise that has traditionally existed between precise vehicle control and unwanted ride harshness,” explained Ronning. “By choosing this advanced technology, our aftermarket partners will be able to offer a superior driving experience.”
