Comprehensive Technical Data For Workshops

Just a matter of months since completing its acquisition of AuDaCon AG, Europe’s leading parts information data provider TecDoc has finished its integration of the system and the latest phase of its development and has now relaunched the technical data under its new TecRMI name.

“TecRMI provides workshops with highly accurate technical service data that is very easy to access and easy to use, and which will help them to compete with the franchised dealer, as well as the local independent,” explained Shaun Greasley, commercial director for TecDoc UK and Ireland.

“A number of technical subject headings allow users to target the areas where specific technical information is needed for the jobs they have in their workshops. This is backed up with more general subjects such as Maintenance Data, Technical Data/Repair Manuals and Repair Times, which uses OEM data to cover subject areas such as Maintenance, Engine, Gearbox, Body/Interior, Brakes, Steering/Suspension and On-board Electronics.

“Printable checklists are available via the Maintenance Data and they provide technicians with the means to ensure that they observe the general maintenance intervals and the correct intervals for specific jobs, as well as information on resetting procedures.

“The Technical Data provides technical drawings, tightening torque settings and contains more repair manual information than any comparable product, and the Repair Time allows the user to find the exact labour times as specified by the VM’s to their dealers.

“By adding the SOS service and recall option to the standard TecRMI package, garages are able to directly target the franchised sector because the system also provides them with manufacturer-based service and recall bulletins.

“With this option, businesses with a customer database can target their customers with a specific recall message, which could include safety critical information. If on the other hand, they operate without a customer database, the system can still be interrogated to search for relevant recalls on vehicles that are in the workshop.

“In the same way the service bulletin element allows the workshop to remain fully up-to-date with any new developments to an existing service schedule or with a particular amendment that needs to be made due to an unforeseen component reliability issue.

“Each function provides the user with a service action, which states the fault symptom, the cause and the remedy. It also lists the parts that are required to complete the job, along with their part numbers and any special tools that are needed.

“As a result, TecRMI and the additional SOS option provide workshops with information that will help their business efficiency, profitability and overall customer service level.”
