The pace of change to the technologies used in today’s modern vehicles can seem to be bewildering.

Today’s premium motor car models now have more technology and computing power that in the first space craft that landed on the moon. It is, therefore, absolutely vital that technicians in independent garages and workshops keep pace with these technologies and developments such as hybrid, electronics, stop-start, ESP (electronic stability program) or TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring systems) to enable them to be serviced, maintained and repaired.

Access to the right training modules for specific automotive technologies has been made easier by UAN’s decision to create a Training and Education division with the active support from eXponentia, Europe’s automotive technology training provider. A range of over 30 training programmes are now available for UAN members. eXponentia was formed by seven leading European car component manufacturers and provides unrivalled experience, breadth of information and expertise to the independent aftermarket.

The UAN training and education programmes differs from other modules in that they seek to firstly encourage motor factors to become engaged, and through that involvement to their garage and workshop customers - a complete and unique support package.

Phil Dodd, Managing Director at UAN commented,”The newly created UAN Training & Education division will be at the forefront of an important drive to educate and train motor factors and garages/workshop technicians to ensure that the independent automotive aftermarket continues to keep pace with the fast changing technologies in today’s modern motor vehicles”.
