Silverstone welcomes new FIA World Rallycross track
The FIA World Rallycross Championship is among the fastest, most exciting and quickest growing forms of motorsport on the planet. 600bhp, turbocharged, 4-wheel-drive monsters compete side by side on both gravel and tarmac, in short — but fierce — competition.
The series sees car manufacturer involvement, such as Team Peugeot-Hansen, and driving legends like Sébastien Loeb competing for overall victory. It all makes for a hotly-contested championship.
In exciting news, the FIA World Rallycross Championship has launched a brand-new track for the 2018 season, at the home of British motorsport, Silverstone. The new track replaces the iconic Lydden Hill, where the sport of Rallycross was created 50 years ago. Silverstone will not only host the UK round of the championship next season, but make it part of a bigger SpeedMachine festival with live music, street food and camping.
Such professional competition, exciting events and desire is to win is why TOTAL Lubricants are now the official lubricants partner of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Committed to the development of the TOTAL Quartz range of lubricants, competition forces the creation of ever more innovative products.
With such high amounts of power, the World Rallycross vehicles are put through rigorous testing and development to extract the ultimate in performance and reliability. The direct learnings from being the official lubricants partner to the series and technical partner to Team Peugeot-Hansen are put into each and every bottle of TOTAL Quartz.
Pierre-Gautier Caloni, Total Motorsport Vice-President, commented: “TOTAL prides itself on being at the cutting edge of innovation and technology in motorsports. We are very excited to have renewed our partnership in World RX with [organiser] IMG for 2017 and 2018. The new extension to the whole championship is a fantastic opportunity for TOTAL Quartz, our lubricant brand, to have a large exposure in a unique and popular platform.”
Chris Wall, Marketing Manager at TOTAL Lubricants UK stated: “There isn’t a better way to demonstrate the abilities of TOTAL Quartz than by working in World Rallycross. Our lubricants are tested to extremes, providing invaluable research, which is then put back into our road-going products. With the FIA World Rallycross Championship introducing a new event at Silverstone, we can’t wait to see the action on track.”
The FIA World Rallycross Championship has seven more rounds this season, across the globe, culminating in South Africa this November and the Silverstone SpeedMachine festival happens in May 2018.
