HELPING TO PROVIDE A SAFER DRIVE FOR 4.1 MILLION VEHICLES

TRW Automotive Aftermarket has announced the latest range extension for its market leading Corner Module programme of Original Equipment (OE) quality braking, steering & suspension parts. The number of vehicles covered by references released so far in 2013 totals a staggering 4.1 million, confirming TRW’s position as the leading supplier of these ‘safety critical’ parts.

The latest range extension consists of 10 parts from across the Corner Module portfolio and includes: four brake calipers four Cotec coated brake pad sets; one brake shoe set and one new control arm/trailing arm bush.

TRW’s UK marketing manager, Kevin Price, said: “Operating in a challenging environment has only served to increase the focus we place on the needs of our customers. We listen very carefully and then act to give them what they need. And with a flexible approach to the market, we’re not afraid to make changes as and when the market demands them.

“We succeed in a competitive market and have a growing business because our Corner Module offer not only provides the highest quality programmes, but also a sensible commercial policy which simplifies and streamlines business.”

Applications in this latest extension cover a range of makes and models and include: brake calipers for BMW Series 1 (2009 onwards) and for the Nissan Cube and Duke (2010 onwards); Cotec coated brake pad sets for Ford C-Max ii (2010 onwards) and Ford Focus iii (2011 onwards) as well as for the Mini Clubman (2007 onwards).

TRW introduced Cotec, an innovative coating for its brake pads, which will provide a safer drive, in 2012. Independent tests by leading automotive testing company, RDW, proved that brake pads coated in Cotec achieve significantly shorter stopping distances for the first stops after leaving a garage following a brake pad change; outperforming major competitors and even OE. After this period, the coating wears off and the normal bedding-in process continues.

Kevin continued: “TRW’s key focus is to improve vehicle and road safety Reducing stopping distances immediately after leaving the garage is a great achievement. Every stop could be a safety critical stop and it can be difficult for a driver to adjust to reduced braking performance after brake pads are exchanged; with TRW Cotec pads drivers can rely on the pads to provide optimal performance from the first stop.

“Our business is in a privileged position; we have a parent company that develops and manufactures the technologies that sit behind the parts we manufacture and we combine this skill and experience into our aftermarket offer,” he concluded.
