TRW has published a 2013 catalogue to accompany its innovative Superkit programme.

The Superkit is TRW’s preassembled drum brake kit (brake shoes and wheel cylinders) which is both time and cost efficient. The catalogue also contains full details of TRW’s useful range of brake kits; separate brake shoes and wheel cylinders in one box. This news highlights TRW’s position as the leading supplier of Corner Module – braking, steering & suspension - parts and systems.

The catalogue: XDB 917D contains 312 pages covering 400 part numbers for the passenger car and light commercial vehicles of a staggering 42 global vehicle manufacturers.

Divided into three sections, the publication contains: an application section; a buyer’s guide with useful model indication showing the brake kits and Superkits ‘bill of materials’ (brake shoes and wheel cylinders) and a detailed section of technical illustrations showing the different wheel cylinders and dimensions.

TRW’s Superkit contains all the necessary accessories for a safer, faster change. This includes the pre-mounted adjuster unit and nuts and caps which negate the reuse of old, worn out or rusty components. In addition, the pre-assembled unit can be mounted straight onto the axle, affording a safer repair. By reducing the time taken to change a drum brake by as much as 50 percent or 30 minutes, this innovation in braking design saves consumers money and helps to increase business opportunities for distributors and garages.

“In line with our first to market approach, by issuing regular information packed catalogues, we ensure that garages always have access to the most up to date part information,” explained Jürgen Mehlis, TRW’s global data manager.

He added: “A major benefit of the new catalogue is the combination of product application information next to technical drawings. Positioning all the relevant information in one place means our customers have easy access to catalogue and technical data for a fast and accurate part number identification; an absolute essential in today’s automotive business.”

“TRW’s Superkit celebrates its 21st birthday this year. Developed in house, this was a pioneering innovation for the maintenance of brakes,” explained TRW’s UK marketing manager, Kevin Price.

“The idea was conceived to reinforce our objective of providing our customers with high quality parts in a convenient way; not only to help them save time and therefore money, but to also to help provide a safer driving experience for the end user.

“Like all braking systems, drum brakes require regular inspection and defective parts have to be replaced immediately. TRW recommends that all components in the system should be replaced at the same time. As a global leader in Original Equipment (OE) drum brake systems, we directly translate this experience into the aftermarket with the ‘TRW Superkit’ which provides the perfect solution.”

All elements are stringently tested to TRW’s OE equivalent standards: all brake shoes are manufactured to TRW’s high environmentally friendly standard, are ECE R90 homologated and include the optimum adjuster for the model; wheel cylinders are available both with and without integrated pressure conscious regulating valves (depending on OE application) and all product has springs and automatic adjustment were applicable.
