Grand Prix Moto3 World Championships

TRWs motorcycle division has announced it will support Kiefer Racing world champion riders Luca Grünwald and Gabriel Ramos in the 2014 Moto3 motorcycle world championship. Moto3 forms part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing calendar. This year will be the 66th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season.

As part of the support package, both riders will have their Kalex–KTM Moto3 bikes equipped with TRW-Lucas clutches, steel-braided hoses and sintered SCR racing brake pads; all designed and engineered to offer the maximum performance under the harshest conditions and highest speed.

TRW’s Channel Marketing Manager Motorcycle, Ulf Haase, commented: “This news further highlights TRW’s commitment to improving automotive and motorcycle performance and safety at every level, by communicating this message to the widest possible audience.

“As the parts division of a company that designs, develops and manufactures some of the world’s leading safety features and technologies, our market leading motorcycle components are designed primarily with the safety of the rider in mind.”

The Moto3 class was introduced in 2012, replacing the 125cc two-stroke category. The class highlights up-and-coming young talent and is a proving ground for racers aiming to progress into Moto2 and eventually into the main MotoGP class. Machinery is restricted to single-cylinder 250cc four-stroke engines. The minimum total weight for motorcycle and rider is 148 kg (326 lb.). Riders in the Moto3 class cannot be older than 28 years.

Luca Grünwald, age 19, was the 2010 German Champion in the 125 class, and the German Moto3 Champion 2012. He has taken part in the Moto3 world championship several times as a wild card- and substitute rider.

27 year old Venezuelan, Gabriel Ramos, has won several national championships. In 2012 and 2013 he proved himself in the Moto3 class of the Spanish motorbike championship.
