WIX Filters are delighted to officially announce the news that Rob Austin will be competing in the 2013 British Touring Car Championship as WIX Racing.
The agreement between WIX Filters and Rob Austin Racing was reached at the end of 2012 for the filter manufacturer to become the headline title sponsor for the race team for the 2013 series. This exciting partnership was officially unveiled on the BTCC stand on the first day of the Autosport International show on Thursday 10th of January at the NEC.
Rob Austin has competed in the BTCC in his Next Generation Touring Car Audi A4 for two years. After WIX became involved with the team for the last round of the 2012 series, Rob Austin now has the full backing of WIX Filters for the 2013 series as full title sponsor. The official creation of WIX Racing in the UK represents a significant milestone for both WIX Filters UK and Rob Austin Racing who are both very excited at the prospect the new partnership represents.
The heritage of WIX Filters in the US is built on racing. WIX have been heavily involved in NASCAR and Indy Car for many years and have used the racing platform to underline the pedigree of the filter brand as a high quality premium filter product. WIX see the move into British Touring Cars as the next step in building on the popularity and credibility of the filter brand here.
Wayne Stevens (WIX UK Sales & Marketing Director) said "We dipped our toe in the water at the final round last season and the response we had from it was just amazing! After hearing feedback from our customers, and our race-weekend guests, the decision to team up with Rob Austin was a pretty easy one. WIX Filters in the US is all about racing which has really helped to show how a quality product can be associated with high level motorsport to promote the brand. Becoming involved in top level motorsport in the UK will help to provide the same continuity.”
Being involved in motorsport enables WIX to focus on the development of new technologies and also on the continuous development of existing products as hundredths of a second count to stay ahead of the competition. Regular tests carried out on the racing track are an important part of the product development plan. Long-term experience gained on the track enables WIX to offer filters that prove reliable in the most difficult conditions.
The first race of the BTCC series is on the weekend of 30/31st March at Brands Hatch and the series comprises of ten rounds, held at the UK’s most famous race tracks. These are exciting times for everyone involved with WIX Filters who are looking forward to a successful year both on and off the track.
