As of Friday 4 July 2008, Gates has withdrawn further supply of all its products to GP Automotive Ltd. MFG branch manager receives MBE
Motor Factors Group branch manager Satbir Giany (pictured) has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Giany, only 36 and a father of three, has been a voluntary police officer since 1989 and is a Chief Special Constable for the Hampshire Special Constabulary. He spends on average close to 100 hours a month in charge of 400 officers, dealing with 999 emergency calls and anti-social behaviour. Read More.. News

Quinton Hazell plays Q-PID
Quinton Hazell has launched Q-PID Live! an online version of its Q-PID CD, which allows users to look-up QH parts using a vehicle's VRM or Vin details. Q-PID Live! is free to download and use, but if distributors choose to use it with the VRM or VIN lookup there is a charge for each look up (tokens can be purchased via the website). If users decide not to purchase VRM Tokens then they can still use Q-PID Live! ADF reminds trade of BER opportunities
The Automotive Distribution Federation ADF has reproduced its leaflet on Block Exemption 2003, designed to educate motor factors, garages and the general public on their rights under the legislation. ADF is at pains to stress the four freedoms introduced by the legislation aimed at safeguarding free competition on the entire market for vehicle spare parts service and repair. Tetrosyl product recall
Tetrosyl is withdrawing its Tetracan Fuel Cans after noticing that a very small number of cans, with an incorrect neck height, prevent the cap,spout sealing to its normal exacting standards.
Tetrosyl says that unfortunately the fault is sporadic and random and therefore difficult to identify as to when and where it may have occurred. This fault can cause cans to leak when not upright, however the Carplan can is a square, flat-base design which minimizes the risk of toppling over. Read More.. |

UAN makes changes to sales team structure
UAN has made significant changes to its sales team structure, designed to provide distributors and suppliers with greater support and resources from the group. The changes will see four territories created and mean UAN's four strong team will cover both car and CV groups. The sales team and territory changes are as follows: Kevin Davison, UAN Business Development Manager North Stephen Hague, UAN Business Development Manager Midlands Dave Hardy, UAN Business Development Manager South Rod Edwards will also cover car and CV distributors in the south while occupying a new role of Field Support Manager, working with UAN BDMs, distributors and suppliers throughout the UK and Ireland. The UAN CV group has held its first distributor meeting of the year and there was an air of optimism among those that attended. Hosted by ZF Trading UK in Northampton, CV distributors were given an open forum to discuss new ideas and issues relating to the marketplace, suppliers and the progress of the group. ADF calls for R2RC support
The European Commission has published its long-awaited and much-leaked opinion document on the future of the Block Exemption Regulation (EC1400,2002) (aka BER). In the document the Commission confirms its view that market changes make an automotive sector-specific Exemption unnecessary and, instead, that the Vertical Restraints Block Exemption Regulation (EC2790,1999), which presently covers distribution agreements outside the motor vehicle sector, would represent an equivalent, but more flexible regime, combined with the general competition rules of Art.81 and Art. Listening to music could cost factors
Industry trade body ADF is alerting the trade to the increased activities by officials from the Performing Right Society (PRS), the body which licenses music use by businesses and distributes royalties to the writers and publishers of the music. With the increase in music downloads from the Internet, music publishers and record companies face declining sales which, in turn, means that the royalties due to artistes and composers are more difficult to collect.
